The four-year Cass Review fundamentally changed the discussion regarding healthcare for gender questioning children. Our speakers include health professionals and LGB rights campaigners to discuss why the Review was so necessary and what's next.
Speakers: Kate Barker, Dr David Bell, Prof Sallie Baxendale
- Kate Barker is CEO of LGB Alliance and writer who founded and ran an award-winning creative agency
- Dr David Bell is a Consultant Psychiatrist (retired), previously of the Tavistock, who raised public alarm about GIDS
- Sallie Baxendale is Professor of Clinical Neuropsychology at UCL
The Cass Review is the most comprehensive review into gender identity services for children, published in April 2024. The interim review led to the closure of the Tavistock GIDS clinic, due to concerns about the poor evidence base for irreversible medical treatments and the lack of holistic care.
- Hear from our three speakers about why the Cass Review was so necessary, from former staff governor, psychiatrist Dr David Bell.
- Hear about the potential dangers of puberty blockers for the developing teenage brain from Professor Sallie Baxendale.
- And with 80-90% of children with gender distress being same-sex attracted, hear from LGB rights campaigner Kate Barker about what the Cass Review means for LGB youth.
Hear from experts, ask questions and make up your own mind about the Cass Review.
